Footnotes

The Bauerle Brothers Furniture Company were based in Oak Park, Illinois at the turn of the twentieth century and worked extensively in Oak Park, Sugar Grove and Wisconsin. Throughout this period the brothers carried out construction work for Frank Lloyd Wright.

According to family legend, the present lot was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and constructed by the brothers for the architects home in Oak Park. The table was later gifted to the current owner's late great aunt by Wright's first wife, Catherine Tobin.

The design bares strong parallels with the table design for the hallway of the Unity Temple, Oak park, Illinois just two years later in 1905, as well as the table design for the Darwin D Martin House, Buffalo, New York, that same year in 1903.

Provenance
One of two dining tables commissioned by Frank Lloyd Wright for his home in Oak Park, Illinois, 1903
Gifted by Catherine Tobin to the present owners great aunt, circa 1920
Thence by descent
