A cut and polished section through a "log" of Larimar. Larimar is pectolite from the Dominican Republic that has been given the trade name of Larimar. You can't see it in the picture but this piece has several tiny blebs of native copper near the rim of the polished piece. It is apparently copper that gives it its blue color. The pectolite forms as a replacement of wood after a pyroclastic flow.
