Footnotes

清晚期 廟堂用微形黃地緙絲吉服及藍地納紗龍袍

These two charming miniature robes were made to adorn statues in a temple. Taking their design and symbolism from the regulated fashion of the Qing court, these small robes would endow the statue with a position within the Qing bureaucracy.

Another example of a miniature court robe made for a statue is in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, 42.50.1
