A PAINTED BRONZE HU JAR AND COVER

Western Han dynasty
The jar of ovoid form, the body divided by concentric raised ribs, with a pair of taotie mask handles on the sides, the cover cast with a quatrefoil design and a loose ring handle, the vessel painted with polychrome blue, red and green pigments in imitation of Warring States lacquer designs.
