Footnotes
Trained as an architect in Stuttgart and Munich, Hans Finsler went on to study art history in Berlin and Munich under the guidance of Heinrich Wölfflin. In 1932 he moved to Zürich, where he taught photography at the Kunstgewerbeschule (KGSZ), the school for applied arts, from 1938 to 1958. Swiss photographer Serge Libiszewski, better known as Sergio Libis, was one of Finsler's pupils. In 1956 Libis moved to Milan where he worked as a commercial photographer, gaining a formidable reputation for his outstandingly creative and innovative advertising campaigns for companies like Pirelli, Olivetti and Giorgio Armani.
