Indeterminate Species
Pliocene/Pleistocene
Colombia
Copal is young amber, a fossilized tree resin. The copal from which this cabochon is formed is 5-1 million years old. Lizards are rarely seen in copal or amber because they became trapped in the sticky resin of prehistoric trees less easily than insects. Offered is a lizard body with a partial leg in a Colombian copal cabochon. Lizard specimen measuring 30 millimeters. Weighing approximately 12.0 grams and measuring 50.0 x 40.0 x 0.50 mm
