A late 19th century French repeating carriage clock with alarm, original travelling case and numbered winding key

The ripple moulded case with rectangular bevelled glass inspection panel with the monogram C.B. surmounted by an elaborately moulded handle and repeat button over rectangular bevelled glass side panels on a stepped plinth base, the signed white enamel circular Roman dial with blued-steel spade hands over a subsidiary Arabic alarm dial, both framed by a gilt mask. The twin train movement with signed backplate and silvered lever platform escapement with cut and compensated bimetallic balance, striking the hours and half hours on a blued-steel coiled gong. Ticking and striking. Sold with the original leather travelling case stamped C.B. on the top, with removable inspection panel with modern handle, along with the original brass double ended winding key stamped 1261. 16cms (6 inches) high (3)
