An Edmund Culpeper compound monocular microscope, English, circa 1730,

trade label inset into base printed Edm Culpeper at ye (crossed daggers) in Moorefields Londini fecit, with ebonised and turned wood nosepiece, green vellum draw tube, grey rayskin outer tube, circular stage with condenser and concave reflector below, circular base with decorative brass banding, in mahogany pillar case with crossed daggers trade label applied to the back inner surface and drawer in the base with ebony/ivory black/white disc, ivory cone, objective and sprung slide holder, the microscope unextended 15in (38cm) high
