A Hagelin CX52 cipher machine, French, 1950's,

no. 32007, the mechanical pin-and-lug cipher machine (French version), developed around 1952 by the Swede Boris Hagelin and manufactured first by AB Cryptoteknik in Stockholm and later by Crypto AG in Zug. This example was made under license in France. Compared to earlier designs, the CX57 offers several improvements. It has six interchangeable cipher wheels that can be removed easily by pulling out the main spindle from the right side. Each of the wheels has a different number of steps on its circumference, in green metal casing with separate case fitted with six further wheels, in waterproof shoulder bag with accessories, the cipher machine 8 1/2in (21.5cm) wide
