serial no. 4315, this light-weight portable pin-and-lug cipher machine, developed at the beginning of World War II by Boris Hagelin of AB Cryptoteknik in Stockholm, and manufactured by Smith & Corona in Syracuse, USA. in green metal casing with canvas carrying case, 7in (18cm) wide

Footnotes

This machine is a post-war modified version of the M209 Converter and has a different typewheel to the original M209. Modifications allowed this M209 to be used with greater security by French forces in the post-war era.
