An English Silver-Mounted Hanger
Late 17th Century, Indistinct Silver Maker's Mark Of Thomas Vicaridge

With slightly curved fullered blade (some pitting) double-edged at the tip and struck with a bladesmith's mark on each side, one with dagger mark above, hilt comprising foliate engraved quillon-block, rear quillon with rounded terminal cast, pierced and chased with a cherub's head on a double scroll, knuckle-guard with a male bust on a pedestal on each side, a crown above and a cherub's mask below, the terminal (old repair) extending into the mouth of a blackamoor's head, the latter on a cap with engrailed edges, basal ferrule with foliate border, and natural buckhorn grip with side-straps, in black leather scabbard with linear engraved locket and chape, the former with frog-hook
