A Highland Silver-Mounted Dirk
19th Century

With tapering blade double-edged over half its length and cut with a narrow fuller along the back on each side of the forte, slightly shouldered figured wooden grip carved with Celtic knotwork set with small silver studs, basal mount engraved with a repeated trellis design of flower-heads, engraved shoulder straps, and circular pommel-cap and button each with engraved decoration and knurled edge, in original black leather scabbard (minor damage, by-knife and fork missing) tooled with gothic quatrefoils, mounts engraved en suite and including locket decorated with a vacant shield against a martial trophy
