A Large Turkish Silver-Mounted Jambiya
19th Century

With curved tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond, the forte on both sides with gold-damascened panel surmounted by arabesques, one side enclosing an Arabic inscription with the name of Qanbar, possibly the maker's name, and on the other with 'Trust in His Servant', and waisted silver-covered hilt of ovoidal section embossed and chased with symmetrical designs of C-scrolls and foliage, the top of the pommel with an ovoidal sun-in-splendour, in original wood-lined silver scabbard embossed and chased en suite, the locket formed of embossed and plaited bands of silver, the chape bound with twisted silver wire above a bud-shaped terminal, and with suspension loop on one side
