A Fine And Rare Cased 28-Bore Flintlock D.B. Travelling Pistol With Attachable Shoulder-Stock

With browned twist barrels signed in gold along the rib, gold fore-sight, breeches with gold lines and gold-lined touch-holes, border engraved case-hardened tang decorated with foliage and with a starburst in the sighting groove, signed border engraved case-hardened flat bevelled locks each decorated with foliage at the stepped tail and with palm leaves behind the gold-lined semi-rainproof pan, foliate engraved cocks (one an old replacement), engraved safety-catches also locking the steels, the latter each with roller working on a ramp on the blued steel-spring, highly figured half-stock, rounded butt cut with characteristic chequering and with engraved steel mount for the figured boot-shaped take-down shoulder-stock, the border engraved case-hardened mount decorated with foliage and starbursts, the tang along the top engraved 'Egg Patent Butt' and with blued trigger-shaped sprung catch, border engraved blued steel mounts decorated with martial trophies and foliage, comprising butt-cap, trigger-guard in the French manner and with engraved pineapple-shaped finial, and fore-end cap decorated with a starburst, gold escutcheon engraved with owner's crest and initials, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, original blued steel ramrod with characteristically chequered tip, and retaining much original finish: in original lined and fitted brass-mounted mahogany case (some old moth damage) for a pair of pistols and with accessories comprising unusual brass-mounted two-way powder-flask covered in red leather (minor loss of surface), leather flint wallet, steel bullet mould, extra horn-tipped ramrod, and cleaning rod, the interior of the lid (old damage and repairs) with maker's illustrated trade label, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle, London proof marks
