A Medieval Knightly Sword Of Oakeshott Type XIIIA
Late 14th Century

With broad tapering double-edged blade (old lamination in places) with tapering central fuller over each side of the forte inlaid in latten with two cross potents, one on both sides within a circle, hilt comprising flattened slightly arched quillons widening at the ends, wooden grip (minor old damage and some old worming) covered in leather or vellum (incomplete), and large chamfered wheel pommel deeply struck with four small cross marks on each side and surmounted by a pyramidal-shaped tang button (some pitting and rust patination overall)
94 cm. blade, 124.8 cm. overall

The quillons conform to Oakeshott's Style 5 with pommel of Type H
