Footnotes

A comparable model of fauteuil a la Reine by Georges Jacob is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Francais du XVIIIeme Siecle, 1989, Paris, p. 419. This example has ribbon-tied carving to the toprail and seat frame which relates to that appearing on the present set of armchairs. It is also of a conforming overall form and has similar stop-fluted legs headed with rosettes or patera.
