A large pair of Victorian silver ewers

Gibson & Langman, London 1899
In the early 18th century style, the flying scroll handles with mask terminals, the bodies with applied decoration, each engraved 'Viceroy's Cup 1932, Presented by H.E. The Earl of Willingdon, Won by Mr Edward Esmond's Sans Ame' and with the cypher of the Earl, height 36cm, weight 147.5oz. (2)

Footnotes

The Viceroy's Cup was run at Calcutta between 1868 and 1947. The 1932 cup took place on 26th December and was won by Sans Ame who had also won the King Emperor Cup the week before.
