At Walker Evans' request, this photograph was printed by Jerry Thompson as a test for an impromptu exhibition of Evans' work at Robert Schoelkopf Gallery in New York from April 21 to May 17, 1973. The show was arranged so that Evans could recoup some of the costs he had incurred during a recent illness when he had been unable to work. Thompson describes this intense period of printing for Evans in his book, (op. cit., p. 64.)
