Provenance:
Mr A. collection, Paris, acquired prior to 1980.

Published:
F. Antonovich, Les Métamorphoses Divines d'Alexandre, Paris, 1996, p. 14.

It has been suggested that Harpocrates is represented here as the oracle of Zeus-Ammon. The eagles, closely associated with Zeus, also symbolise Upper and Lower Egypt.
