By Uemura Enshu (born 1955), Showa (1926-1989) or Heisei (1989-2019) era, late 20th/early 21st century
Decorated in gold and polychrome takamaki-e with a squirrel asleep and tightly curled up in a ball on one side and acorns swirling among leaves on the other, with details in okibirame, shell and e-nashiji, the interior of rich nashiji, signed on the base in gold lacquer Enshu; with a wood storage box. 8.2cm (3¼in) high.
