A bronze Vessel in the form of a sparrow and two gourds

Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa era (1926-1989), 20th century
Constructed in three detachable sections, the suzume (sparrow) perched atop the smaller gourd, the larger gourd with a detachable stopper in the form of a leafy stalk, unsigned; with a wood storage box inscribed Hyotan ni suzume, Gyokusen saku (Gourds and sparrow made by Gyokusen) with seal Gyokusen. 23.5cm x 14cm (9¼in x 5½in).
