A rare silver-alloy 'Daoist' seal
19th century
Of rectangular form, cast as a ferocious four-legged mythical beast with a curling horn, the head turned sharply to its left, with protruding eyes beneath heavy brows, the writhing body flanked by a pair of wings, the top of the seal cast with an eight-character inscription in standard script, the underside seal face cast with a Daoist talisman. 5.3cm (2.4in) high.
