An ormolu-mounted Meissen satirical group, circa 1760

Modelled with a gentleman seated on a chair with a dog on his lap fending off a donkey while a standing figure attempts to control the beast, the base modelled with gilt-edged scrollwork and applied with leaves and flowers, mounted on a later ormolu pierced scrollwork base applied at the rear with leafy, fruiting branches surmounted by a similarly-mounted blue-glazed bowl and cover, 18cm high overall, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue (some restoration and losses) (2)
