ROYAL INTEREST: An Edwardian silver presentation cigarette case

by William Frederick Wright, London 1904
With separate vesta compartment and tinder cord, with the enamel cypher of The Prince of Wales (future George V), with original case, the interior inscribed with a presentation inscription, length 9.5cm, weight total 4.5oz.

Footnotes

The presentation inscription reads:

'Presented to Mr J. Faletti by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales as a souvenir of the Royal Tour throughout India and Burma 1905-1906'

The future George V first encountered John Faletti when he was running the United Services Club in Shimla. He was so impressed that he engaged him to organise the catering during the 1905-1906 tour in India and Burma. He would later buy the famous Cecil Hotel in Shimla.
