A large Edwardian silver two-handled bowl

by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths & Co Ltd, London 1904
Oval bellied form with undulating fluted lower body, pierced scroll gallery, bifurcated dragon head scroll handles, on acanthus capped leaf scroll feet, with armorial engraving, length 54cm, weight 95oz.

The full achievement is of the CAR(E)Y family of Follaton Park, Totnes, Devon.
With the motto this particular achievement is that of Francis Joseph STANLEY-CARY (1878-1941), the youngest and only surviving son of Stanley Edward George CARY (1825-1902) of Follaton Park and Agnes Mary Lucretia JERNINGHAM (1838-1921). Francis Joseph was a bachelor who served as an army officer.
