A rare 19th century French silver humidor
by Martial Fray, with post 1840 export mark
The rectangular casket with hinged cover, cushion shaped with three figures smoking from a hookah pipe, seated on a large ornate draped carpet, fold down front engraved around the key hole (interior lock mechanism removed), opening to reveal an upper section and three pull-out trays below, applied bi-furcated scroll handles to the sides, skirted base on four leaf scroll and paw bracket feet, height 23cm, length 29cm, weight total 150oz.
