A German silver nef
Hanau, early 20th century importer mark for John George Piddington, London 1902
Raised on four wheels, the removable deck with two masts in full sail flanking a central turret, with six cannons, sailors on the decks and further sailors in the crows nests and climbing the rigging, embossed sides with semi-clad females riding on the backs of dolphin and putti, the decking and sides simulated wood texture and further acanthus scrolls decoration, elongated bow forming the spout with draped chains and two anchors, the ships wheel rotates to move the rudder to the stern, height 49cm, length 45cm, weight 115oz.
