This work was commissioned by de Beers as a trophy for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
'For those people who like horses, the main thing is to give them a horse. As for the pose - horses are terrific when moving, but a galloping horse has more movement than form. They're so beautiful when they're just standing about. I found that appealed to me more and the jockey will look very composed.'
