Footnotes

The only other recorded example of Du Paquier porcelain of this type is a similar beaker and saucer in the British Museum from the collection of Sir A.W. Franks (by 1896); see M. Chilton/C. Lehner-Jobst, Fired by Passion (2009), III, no. 64, where it is noted that the Viennese aristocracy had a special fondness for East Asian lacquerwork, and that small lacquer tables and trays were often combined with porcelain, such as mentioned in the prize lists of the shooting competitions held at the Imperial summer palace of Favorita.
