Although the work is inscribed 'St John's Walk' the view is in fact of St John's Church in St John's Garden near Lansdowne Walk, London. The work dates from 1948-1950 when the artist was living and working close by with fellow artists Jacqueline Hick and Michael Shannon.

Please note the correct title should read 'St Johns Walk', c.1948-50, as inscribed by the artist. Although the work is inscribed 'St John's Walk' the view is in fact of St John's Notting Hill, as located at the intersection of Lansdowne Crescent, and St John's Gardens, one block from Lansdowne Walk. The work dates from 1948-1950 when the artist was living and working close by with fellow artists Jacqueline Hick and Michael Shannon.
