Provenance
Lionel Grimston Fawkes (1849-1931), an artist best known today for his illustrations for Anthony Trollope's The Way We Live Now (1875), but who travelled to India in the 1870s, and is mentioned in the Army Lists as serving as a Captain at Madras by 1880; thence by descent to the present owner.
