The first edition in English of important accounts by 'Sulaiman, the Merchant' and Hasan ibn Yazid al Sirafi, translated from the Arabic and based on events they witnessed such as the great revolution which swept across China in the 9th century. Later Arabic geographers such as Ibn Khordadhbe and al-Mas'udi relied heavily on this work for their information on India and China.
