Album of 50 topographical views and portrait types, hand-tinted albumen prints, mostly numbered and captioned in the negative, mounted one per page and back to back, variable toning, images approximately 210 x 265mm., 3 additional albumen prints (one of Cavanagh Bridge, Singapore) loosely inserted, contemporary lacquer binding, the upper cover decorated with a scene of a woman with an umbrella being punted across a lake, g.e., spine worn, oblong folio (262 x 333mm.), [1880s]

Comprises portrait figures or groups (8, including "Wrestlers", "Girls playing cards, "Vegetable howker", "Kago (travelling chair)", uncaptioned Geishas, ?theatrical Samurai group); 42 views, including Kobe (5), Nikko (5), Tokyo (7), Narra (3), Hakone (3), Kamakura (2), Nagasaki (2), Osaka (2), Yokohama (2), Suruga (2), Arima, Miyajima, Yumoto, and others.

Most of the images relate to Terry Bennett's "Unidentified number groups", tentatively attributed by him to the Enami or Farsari Studios. Approximately 20 of the prints are not not listed him (cf. Old Japanese Photographs. Collectors' Data Guide, 2006).
