Signed André Noël a Paris, the octagonal dial inset with magnetic compass with hinged gnomon and bird pointer with cardinal points and hourly scale in roman numerals, engraved on the back with various French cities and numbers, the dial engraved on the back with a list of cities and their latitudes and a figure of Napoleon seated on a horse with a patriotic slogan 'Liberte Fraternite Egalite' and a flag with the letter 'N', 3 ins (8cm) long
