A Henan russet-painted black-glazed jar, guan

Jin/Yuan Dynasty
The large ovoid vessel rising from a small circular foot to a bulging belly, rounded shoulders and short lip, the globular body freely painted in broad russet strokes with four abstractly rendered birds in flight, all reserved on a rich lustrous black glaze. 17cm (6 3/4in) high
