A very rare set of four huanghuali square stools, fangdeng

16th/17th century
Each with the wood seat formed by two rectangular panels enclosed within a square mitre, mortise and tenon frame, with a moulded apron resembling a rounded member, supported on thick cylindrical legs joined by wrap-around humpback stretchers and openwork aprons of two vertical posts. 51cm (20in) square x 46cm (18 1/8in) high (4).
