Persia, late 14th Century

of squat rounded form, engraved with a band of cartouches containing inscription in thuluth, inscription in knotted kufic and vegetal motifs interspersed by roundels containing vegetal and geometric motifs, above and below bands of cable motif, the lower band with pendant palmettes
20 cm. diam.

Inscriptions: in cursive, al-'izz al-da'im wa al-iqbal/ al-shalim (sic) [al-salim?] wa al-i'mal (?), 'Perpetual Glory and Prosperity. Safe [life] and [good] works (?)'; in Kufic, undeciphered.
