Footnotes

The text reads: 'Truly, whenever Allah bestows favours upon a slave [i.e. a believer] he wishes to see these make him prosper'.

Niyaz Kerim Shaerqi (b. 1948 in Turpan) is perhaps the best-known Uighur calligrapher working at present. His work has been widely exhibited. See Niyaz Kerim Shaerqi, Urumqi 2008.
