Footnotes
Provenance:
By descent from The Dean of York, The Very Reverend George MARKHAM (1763-1822), second son of William Markham, Archbishop of York from 1776 to 1807 and brother to Frederica Markham (1774-1860). Frederica married David William Murray, 3rd Earl of Mansfield, (1777-1840), becoming Countess of MANSFIELD. Hence, the FMGM initials to the interior of the box and the pen inscription to the exterior of the carrying case.
