Provenance: Originally sourced from Devonport Dockyard.
The 114 gun 1st Rate Spanish battleship San Jose was captured by Nelson at the Battle of Cape St Vincent on February 14th 1797. Taken into the Royal Navy as HMS San Josef, she served in the Home fleet until she became the Gunnery Training vessel at Devonport in 1839. She was broken up there in 1849.
