Footnotes
'The Sluggard', also known as 'Athlete Awakening from Sleeping', was first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1886 as a life-size bronze. The smaller model, cast from the clay model for the larger work, began to be produced in large numbers from 1890 onwards, first by Arthur J. Collie and then by the Singer Foundry.
