The present panel is a fine autograph replica of one of a series of panels that depict places of the world (on copper, 48.4 x 67.1 cm. in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich: see op. cit. p.182, fig. 102). It has generally been considered to be of a similar date to the Munich series (circa 1666).
