Four early ivory animal netsuke

18th century
The first of a monkey reclining on a trellis over which hangs a grape vine, unsigned, 3.5cm (1 3/8in); the second of a shishi seated, protecting a large ball, unsigned, 4.2cm (1 5/8in); the third of a recumbent deer, its head turned to the right, unsigned, 4.5cm (1¾in); the fourth of a large rat lying on leaves and fruit, its eyes inlaid, unsigned, 4.5cm (1¾in).
