An ivory netsuke of two puppies

By Hogen Rantei, 19th century
The two young puppies snuggled together, each curled around and one resting its head on the other's back, forming a compact composition in rather worn and lightly stained ivory, the eyes inlaid, signed in a rectangular reserve Rantei. 4.2cm (1 5/8in).
