A scale model of the tug-boat Long Island
American, 20th century

the hull in painted wood and modeled in 1/32 in.= 1 ft. scale, the hull with bottom painted brown, yellow waterline and black topsides, deck details include life rings, handrails, companionways, fender and ventilators, raised on two brass columns on a mahogany base.

Footnotes

The insignia on the funnel identifies this tug as being part of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Long Island would have been employed to tow barges owned by the PRR to either transport coal or railroad cars which could be rolled on and off.
