A Meissen teabowl and saucer, circa 1724
Each painted with a European landscape scene, probably by Johann Gottfried Mehlhorn, within a gilt quatrelobe cartouche embellished with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red foliate scrolls, the saucer depicting a distant town across fields and a river, the teabowl with two figures by a river and farmhouse, the reverse and the well with indianische Blumen, gilt scroll and strapwork borders to the rims, the teabowl: 4.4cm high; the saucer: 12.5cm diam., gilt numeral 46. to both, incised / inside footrim of teabowl and x to saucer (2)
