Style of Ozaki Kokusai, Shiba, Tokyo, late 19th century
Of somewhat flattened mokugyo form, his scowling face peering out from the folds of his voluminous robe and a hossu (fly-switch) carved in sunk relief on his head, the underside carved with a baku-head handle, the slightly-worn ivory bears a fine patina and with two metal staples holding age cracks in place, unsigned. 3.8cm (1½in).
