A wood netsuke of Shojo

By Tadatoshi (circa 1770-1840), Nagoya, early 19th century
Lying asleep, her head resting on one hand and her long hair falling over the back of her robe which is carved in relief with a design of swirling clouds, the wood slightly-worn and bearing a fine patina, signed with ukibori characters in a rectangular reserve Tadatoshi. 4.7cm (1 7/8in).
