A wood netsuke of a recumbent kirin

By Ikkan (1817-1893), Nagoya, 19th century
Lying with its head turned back to the left, its horns and legs drawn in and flames licking its flanks, one leg forming the himotoshi, the wood is slightly worn and of a good colour, signed in an oval reserve Ikkan. 3.8cm (1½in).
