Four netsuke of various materials

One by Hidari Issan, early to mid 19th century
The first of lacquered wood, in the form of a recumbent shishi, a cub clambering over its back, unsigned, 3.2cm (1½in); the second a walnut netsuke carved with a crane and turtle, emblems of longevity, signed Hidari Issan, 3.2cm (1½in); the third of umimatsu, of a recumbent shishi scratching its head, unsigned, 4.5cm (1¾in); and the fourth of umoregi, of a recumbent hare, 4.1cm (1¾in) long, unsigned.
